OFW: PhilHealth Helpful Reminders To You! Please Read!

The Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) are required to be registered in Philhealth before going abroad. Because it is very important to them and their family concerning their health and assistance whenever OFW and their dependents face health problems and hospitalization. There are some important reminders from Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth) to all OFW inside and outside the country to get medical benefits under the national Health Insurance Program of the country. First, maintain a regular and up-to-date payment of annual contributions in Philhealth.It is advice that every time the OFW return to his loving country. Secondly, it is required that the Member's Data Record (MDR) and contact information and the right Philhealth Identification Number that will be used in all the transactions with Philhealth inside or outside the country.

If ever that an OFW or its dependents were sick and hospitalized in the country it is not needed to show their Members Data Record (MDR) if the hospital has the access on Health Care Institution Portal or HCI Portal. If the hospital has no access on HCI Portal they can go to the nearest Philhealth office to take a copy of MDR or email to ofp@philhealth.gov.ph. OFW members of Philhealth encouraging them to visit on Philhealth website at www.philhealth.gov.ph and use the online inquiry facility that can be found on the right part of the website homepage. In that Online Inquiry Facility, the member can check the payment contribution record and other detailed information about their Philhealth membership.OFW can access the link https://memberinquiry.philhealth.gov.ph.

If the member encountered a problem on taking medical benefits in the hospital, they can ask assistance, including their dependents in the assigned Philhealth Customer Assistance. Relations and Empowerment Staff or P-CARES staff and personnel on selected hospital nationwide private or public hospital. The personnel is always ready to help and assist to all the PhilHealth Members.

Thes helpful reminders are based on the Philhealth Advisory No. 2016-0015 which was posted recently in the newspaper nationwide.
