The Physician or medical doctor may have some swab test on the cervix of the person infected to know whether the HPV will result in cancer. The physician will require you to have a Pap smear to check any signs of abnormality in your private and genital areas. A sign of cervical cancer can be determined by abnormal changes and differences in the cervix area. If the undergone test like Pap smear shows signs of abnormalities, the doctor will pursue you to have a colposcopy.
According to Mayo Clinic Colposcopy is a procedure to closely examine your cervix, vagina, and vulva for signs of disease. During colposcopy, your doctor uses a special instrument called a colposcope. Your doctor may recommend colposcopy if your Pap test has shown abnormal results. Although the Pa smear test is normal, it is also required to have a colposcopy because it will show the more clear result if there are any cells in the area that have abnormalities.
