The majority of the OFW's are not only struggling with their loneliness and homesickness in the foreign countries, the problems and hardships in their works and especially encountering problems with their families and relatives thinking that they are presently financial stable and can give anything they want from the OFW. Mostly families and relatives request the OFW's for many assistance such as packages from abroad, personal necessities like shoes, gadgets, and lending money to them for the goods and stuff they want to purchase. The majority of the OFW's are bound to be responsible for the payments of tuition fees of their siblings and their personal needs even though they have their own families. But it is a culture of a Filipino with extended families. Unfortunately, OFW's were obliged to help their relatives and families in the Philippines and many times they were ridiculed and scorned and were called selfish if they cannot give the request of their families and relatives. This a good example of an OFW Nurse working in Canada who wrote on a Facebook Page "PESO SENSE" to seek advice from them.
According to the OFW nurse who doesn't disclose her name, she has been very supportive to all her siblings and their families. She gave a big amount of money to have a capital to start a business, but unfortunately, the business was not successful. Although the business was not successful she doesn't blame and keep silent. Despite the unsuccessful business again she gave another chance to start a variety store business and send him a total of Php 55,000 for starting the business. for her older sibling, she gave expensive stuff like shoes and watches and also supporting her older brother's children for the tuition fees in a private school amounting to Php 30,000. Her older brother is residing in her own lot and the house was paid by her sister. Currently, her other brothers asked again another favor to have a financial loan to purchase a car but because that she has a family to be supported she doesn't give the request and the response of her brother ridiculed and scorned her for the reason that the request was not granted. Here is the message of her brother:

"Who died and made your parasite of a brother the ruler of the universe? The nerve of that parasitic creature to demand from you. In the first place, they are no longer and should never be your responsibility. Stop any form of financial assistance and cut all forms of communication with them. The problem with the typical Filipino family set up is that the extended families do not know their place in the hierarchy of priorities. Once a sibling or a child is married, the extended family should move a step back to give way to the new family. Be wiser sender and love yourself more. Good luck".
